Currently Senior Software Engineer at CarMax

Software Engineer · AI & Cloud Systems

I build AI agents and cloud systems that teams rely on.

I’m a software engineer with 9+ years shipping production systems — from AI agents that speed up incident response to .NET modernizations on Azure.

What I work on

Three areas I know well

01

AI agents & automation

Agents that handle real operational work — triaging incidents, pulling context from logs and tickets, and taking routine steps off a team’s plate.

02

Cloud modernization

Moving legacy .NET applications to modern .NET on Azure, with cleaner architecture, repeatable deployments and room to scale.

03

Reliability & observability

Monitoring, alerting and event-driven automation so problems surface early and get fixed fast — before customers notice.

Selected work

Problems I’ve solved

A shared framework for building AI agents

Agent loop · MCP hub · Tool registry · Thread store · FastAPI

A reusable agent host: one shared agent loop, a hub for MCP tool connections, a registry of available tools, and a store that keeps each conversation’s history — all behind a single API.

Impact. New agents start from a working foundation instead of from scratch, and can run multi-step triage on their own across Azure DevOps, Log Analytics and GitHub.

Legacy .NET to .NET 8

.NET 8 · Clean Architecture · DDD · REST APIs · Datadog · Azure App Service

Migrated enterprise applications from .NET Framework 4.8.1 to .NET 8, restructured them around Clean Architecture and domain-driven design, broke parts into microservices and modernized the REST APIs.

Impact. Better performance and reliability through Datadog monitoring, Azure auto-scaling and faster background jobs — on a platform the team could keep building on.

Event-driven config-to-analytics pipeline

Azure Event Grid · Azure Functions · App Configuration · Bicep

Listens for configuration changes in Azure App Configuration as they happen and turns them into schema updates in the enterprise data warehouse, so analytics always reflect the current setup.

Impact. Zero manual intervention, and every environment deploys the same way from Bicep templates.

Real-time market and transaction data

.NET · Java · Kafka · IBM MQ · Distributed services

Built distributed services for real-time transaction monitoring, market analytics and automated business rules, connected through Kafka and MQ messaging.

Impact. Large-scale, mission-critical financial workflows running on live data instead of after-the-fact reports.

Experience

Where I’ve worked

  1. CarMax

    2024 — Present

    Current

    Senior Software Engineer

Lead the AI and platform work that helps CarMax engineers resolve incidents faster. I architected an on-call AI agent that takes engineers from root cause to resolution and saves 30–45 minutes per incident. It runs multi-step triage on its own across Azure DevOps, GitHub and live telemetry from 11+ Log Analytics workspaces, and draws on past incidents through a retrieval system built on Azure AI Search. I delivered it end to end, from a reusable agent framework to production on Azure Container Apps, with guardrails against prompt injection and leaked personal data. Alongside it, I built an event-driven pipeline that feeds configuration changes into analytics with zero manual work, automated 24/7 on-call routing in Microsoft Teams, and partnered on a strategic initiative that drove $50M+ in new revenue.

  2. RollKall

    2022 — 2024

Senior Software Engineer / Platform Engineer

Took a growing SaaS platform from legacy .NET to .NET 8 while it kept shipping: 50+ client-facing features in a single year, with integrations like Twilio, Stripe and Firebase. I made background jobs 6× faster by running them in parallel on their own auto-scaling Azure service, so heavy work stopped slowing the app for everyone else. I also cleared 4,000+ code quality and security issues and moved every setting and secret into Azure App Configuration and Key Vault, leaving the team a faster, safer codebase to build on.

  3. Charles Schwab

    2018 — 2020

    Software Engineer

Built real-time financial systems that had to be fast, reliable and secure. My services watched 20M+ consumer records as they changed, streaming through Kafka and MQ, and opened business cases in Pega automatically when something needed attention. I led the move of 11 applications from on-premises servers to the cloud, standing up 90+ servers with automated deployment pipelines, and led the fix of 400+ security vulnerabilities found by Veracode and SonarQube.

  4. AIG

    2016 — 2018

    Software Engineer

Built the tools that kept a global network visible and lean. I created a “single pane of glass” view of worldwide network health with ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript and Bootstrap, backed by SQL Server stored procedures and views, so teams could spot problems early and cut down on outages. I also wrote a Java application that flagged underused servers for decommissioning, built an internal Angular site, and backed my work with test-driven development using MSTest, NUnit and Moq.

About

Hands-on engineer with a product mindset

I’ve spent 9+ years building systems across enterprise, financial services and AI-powered operations. Today I focus on making AI useful in day-to-day operations, not just in demos.

I work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and help teams adopt new technology in a way that sticks.
